Alexa Volpe, PharmD – President
Founded ILSA in 2022 to promote early literacy through Dolly Parton’s book gifting program. As a pharmacist and drug informaticist at Oracle, Alexa understands that early literacy supports long-term health and learning outcomes.
Juan B. Gutiérrez, PhD – Treasurer
UT San Antonio Professor of Mathematics and published fiction author, Juan brings data-driven fiscal oversight to ILSA’s operations and long-term sustainability.
Sandy Norman, EdD – Secretary
Professor Emeritus of Mathematics at UT San Antonio, Sandy is an expert in education who champions early access to books for early childhood development.
Jennifer Herrera, MS – Director of Marketing
A San Antonio native with advanced training in journalism and nonprofit management, Jennifer brings 15+ years experience in nonprofit marketing and community engagement to ILSA.
Kathleen Ball, PMP, MBA – Director of Development
As the Site Lead for San Antonio at General Dynamics Mission Systems, Kathleen brings strategic leadership and vision to grow ILSA’s fundraising and impact.
Christa Aldrich, MA – Community Advisor
As the statewide coordinator of H-E-B’s Read3 Program and former San Antonio educator, Christa shares her expertise in literacy initiatives to connect ILSA with community partners.
